A hard working, dedicated, meticulous and sincere doctor and a compassionate human being are just a few words that best describe Dr Vinay Varma, the founder of Anand Pain Relief & Rehabilitation Institute. For someone who began his journey with a humble beginning, he worked his way to creating a hospital that provides quality healthcare to patients across all strata of society.
He completed his MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) from Karnataka Medical College, Hubli, Karnataka in 1974.
Despite being a brilliant student at the time, Dr Varma could not pursue his MD (Doctor of Medicine) owing to financial constraints. However, his desire to do things differently led him into the field of Acupuncture, an ancient science of Chinese medicine. He began by acquiring a Diploma in Acupuncture from International College of Acupuncture, Switzerland conducted in India, for the first time, at Raipur, 1980. He then went on to complete his M.D. (TM) By Medicina Alternativa, 1983 at Colombo (Sri Lanka).
Dr. Varma led a brilliant academic career wherein he was honoured with the prestigious national merit scholarship. He then went on to acquire several other degrees such as PGCR (Post Graduate Certificate Course in Rehabilitation) from Mumbai, Ph.D. (Medicina Alternativa, Sri Lanka), 1985, advanced training in non-surgical management of BACK CARE at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, Family Planning Counselor Course by IMA, New Delhi and Post Graduate Course in HIV / AIDS & STDs Management by IMA, New Delhi.
Being academically oriented and extremely active, Dr Varma has presented several papers at National & International conferences, including the latest one at the International Conference in Netherlands in 2011.
Dr Varma is also credited with several innovations such as designing "Vinay Varma's Functional Knee Splint", modification of night splints, pressure splint and electrical sharpening of acupuncture needles, "Standing Aid" for children, computer proforma on "SCORING SYSTEM - Assessment for Developmental Disabilities", computer formats for "in depth clinical examination" for various diseases.
He presently holds the post of the Founder President, Acupuncture Association of India, Hubli Branch and the Vice - President, Acupuncture Association of India (National level).

A young, dynamic doctor who completed his MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) from J. N Medical College, Belgaum, Karnataka in 2002. He then went on to pursue DNB in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PMR) from the esteemed All India Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (AIIPMR), Mumbai and successfully completed it in 2008.
He completed a fellowship in PGCR (Post Graduate Certificate Course in Rehabilitation) in 2005, from All India Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (AIIPMR), Mumbai. Dr Anand Varma completed another Fellowship in Cardiac Rehabilitation (FCR) in 2006, conducted by Medvarsity & Apollo Hospitals, India.
He went on to work as a Senior Resident at AIIPMR, Mumbai, from April 2008 to February 2010. Dr Anand Varma also gained experience in Neuro-rehabilitation by completing a short stint as a Senior Resident in Dept. of Psychiatric & Neurological Rehabilitation (Neurological Division) at National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, from February 2010 to August 2010.
He then moved on to Hubli, Karnataka with an aim to provide quality rehabilitation services in this part of Karnataka and joined Anand Pain Relief and Rehabilitation Institute as a consultant.
Dr. Anand Varma is highly proficient and skilled in the rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, spinal dysraphism, osteogenesis imperfecta, diabetic foot & peripheral neuropathy, rheumatological diseases, low back pain, neck pain, amputations (upper & lower limbs) including the prosthetic management, chronic pain syndromes, osteoporosis, myelopathies (compressive & non-compressive) and pressure sores.
He also possesses experience and excellent surgical expertise in fractional lengthening of muscles & tenotomies (soft tissue surgeries) to reduce spasticity, Injection Botulinium toxin (Botox) & Phenol nerve blocks in the management of spasticity & dystonia and Intra-thecal baclofen pump.
